Amy McHugh

Birth and Postpartum Doula

Hi, I’m Amy! Wife, girl mom, birth & postpartum doula…

My journey into the birth community began in 2013 when I became a certified labor doula. I have expanded my knowledge base through Spinning Babies, Acupressure for Birth, Rebozo, and Hypnobirthing trainings as well as attending additional courses that help me to support a diverse client base. After attending over well over 600 births, I can honestly say that I learn something from every birth I attend and feel more passionate about serving families with every birth. In July 2024 I attended a postpartum doula training to gain more in depth information about preparing for the fourth trimester. Many of my birth clients were feeling overwhelmed in this time and I wanted to have current, evidence based information to answer their questions and help them make a postpartum plan prenatally.

After being on call for over a decade, I decided to shift my practice from birth to postpartum support in 2025. While I do still support repeat clients through their birth, I now primarily support clients overnight postpartum. I have experience and additional training to support twins, NICU families transitioning home, breast and formula fed babies, single parents, first time and experienced parents. My goal is to make this time feel supported, empowering, sustainable and less overwhelming than it felt when I had my daughters. I approach support with encouragement, openness, empathy, education and humor. Now that I am on the other side of raising my babies, I always say that our hardest or most unexpected moments become the memories we laugh about and share the most now!
