Pregnancy & Birth

Acupuncture is a safe form of support for pregnant bodies.

Whether you use acupuncture to help relax and reduce stress or for particular conditions or symptoms, it is a wonderful complement to the medical care that you receive throughout your pregnancy.

Very thin, sterile needles are inserted into specific points to redirect, build and disperse blocked qi (vital energy). When qi is sufficient and flowing smoothly all body systems can function optimally. The body is constantly changing during pregnancy. Acupuncture can help to ease the process for mother and baby.

Fertility

Acupuncture can be used as a treatment for fertility challenges.

It has also been shown to improve the success rate of modern day fertility treatments. As a stand alone treatment acupuncture is most effective in treating functional issues such as irregular periods or ovulation rather than structural problems such as a blockage in the fallopian tubes. Acupuncture works by balancing the body’s energy flow (qi) which in turn regulates the bodies systems and allows them to function smoothly. Studies have shown acupuncture to increase blood flow to the uterus, reduce stress hormones that can interfere with ovulation, regulate menstruation and ovulation, and improve pregnancy rates in women undergoing IVF. In an American study, 51% of women receiving acupuncture with IVF became pregnant as opposed to 36% of women receiving IVF alone.

Postpartum Acupuncture

As a mother, we understand the challenges and joys we experience caring for our children

As caregivers, we tend to put ourselves aside. No sleep, forget to eat, don’t exercise or take time to breathe. Hopefully you are doing all of that, but if you aren’t you are not alone. Acupuncture may be a wonderful way to help find balance in your life as mom. So take some time for yourself and come experience a stress relieving, body restoring acupuncture treatment!

PREVENTION

Acupuncture and Shonishin can be used to help prevent disease. Too often we allow our bodies to get run down which leads to illness. This ancient medicine has been used for thousands of years to prevent people from getting sick. I encourage a healthy, active lifestyle with treatments intended to assist in preventing disease. Acupuncture also has an effect on increasing T-cell count which will help boost the immune system. Send in your entire family this fall to help prevent colds/flus!

ACUPUNCTURE & MENSTRUAL IRREGULARITIES INCLUDING PMS

A woman’s menstrual cycle is a good indicator of her general health. PMS and irregular menstruation are early signs of potentially serious reproductive system disorders such as endometriosis, fibroids, cysts and infertility. PMS can disrupt a woman’s life in many ways including her relationships, self esteem, work productivity, exercise routine, sleep and the way she feels about her own body. Month after month millions of women suffer unnecessarily with symptoms that could be eliminated or reduced with acupuncture and lifestyle changes. Acupuncture is a natural, low cost form of treatment with virtually no side effects. PMS is not a normal monthly occurrence as many women accept it to be.

“Macushla is nothing short of amazing! I’ve been seeing her for Acupuncture for a year and she has helped me with fertility, pregnancy, and postpartum. She’s been able to help alleviate just about every ailment I come in with! I’ve gone from having wildly irregular cycles to having a 28-30 day cycle every month with regular Acupuncture. Macushla also takes extra time to give advice about diet, supplements and lifestyle changes and I can honestly say I’ve never felt so healthy before.”
