Margaret Emmerich is an Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). She has been working in birth and lactation since 2013 and has been with Belly Bliss since 2017. Margaret’s passion for breastfeeding flourished after the birth of her two boys. While her journey was relatively smooth, she was constantly disheartened by the experiences of family members and friends who were not provided with the resources they needed to effectively breastfeed their children. It is Margaret’s goal to equip families with the information they need to make their own decisions on how to feed their children. Additionally, when families are presented with challenges, providing them with obtainable resources and solutions so they are able to continue to meet their feeding goals.
Clinical Passion
Margaret is very passionate about nutrition and gut health as it relates to breastfeeding and a successful breastfeeding relationship. A healthy gut in the lactating parent is a health gut in the infant. Our society puts very little importance on nutrition and gut health and what the implications may be to breastfeeding parents and babies. The medical system is quick to put a bandaid on a problem, like prescribing PPIs for reflux, when the root of the problem is never addressed. Margaret takes the time to dig deep into lifestyle and health history of the dyad in order to find the root of the problem in hopes of increasing the duration of the breastfeeding relationship.
Interests & Hobbies
When Margaret is not working with parents and babies so loves to be with her family outdoors. She is an avid runner and enjoys running ultra marathons with her husband and competing in long distance open water swim races. Margaret hopes to complete her first Ironman in the summer of 2024.
